This website will never satisfy you; that’s the honest truth. It might be a help but it will never truly answer all your questions. I do not pretend it will.

If you are here looking into the Christian faith, or you are a Christian seeking some sort of comfort or encouragement in the midst of difficulty, there are some posts here that are for you. However, I promise that you will not find all the solutions to you doubt and fears on The Mark 8 Christian.

The darkness of not knowing sometimes feels like hell

This does not suit human beings well. We like to know, to prod and to push until we have built our tower that touches the heavens. This is why we dig the ground into the past and take microscopes into the future.

We are trying to recreate life while exhuming bodies that have been dead for millennia and we are on Mars because we have to know. The darkness of not knowing sometimes feels like hell. Trust me, I know. I am a scientist.

When I was in university, I would bang my head out of frustration because I sensed a height of understanding that I just could not attain. Not that I graduated terribly. No, I did very well. I just felt that there was so much more that I could know.

So, when we probe into the intangible things of life – love, pain and faith – it disturbs that we cannot grasp it. I’m sure it is frustrating when you read some of the posts on this site and don’t get all what you are looking for.

Knowledge is made complete at eternity

I am only human, and I know only in part. It is wrong for anyone to presume they have attained some height or received all the knowledge there is to receive.

Like millions of others around the world, and the countless multitudes through history, I am simply following Jesus. As I walk, fixing my eyes on him, I learn more; but I will never know it all until I reach his destination – eternity.

I don’t know but he knows

I only know the little he has shown me, a tiny molecule of water in the vast ocean of all he has created. This little I know is a product of his grace and mercy, for which I am thankful. Who am I that I should hold the secrets of eternity? Yet, he has chosen to share.

I do not know but he knows. So, follow him.

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
1 Corinthians 13:12
