Any night spent scrolling through reels would make you think that the sexes are engaged in a character bashing competition.
Well, Christian Man I want to assure you that this woman has not written one of those posts – at least that’s not what’s on my heart. If anything, I am extending a hand to lift you up from the stupor that modern day lifestyle diseases have confined you to and open your eyes once more to the value God placed on men when he shaped you collectively as males and uniquely as individuals.
Men, do not withhold yourselves from us. There is something you have that we never will, just as you will never attain what we possess as women. Cast your minds away from the context of romance and think about the bigger picture – God’s family of believers (i.e., the church).
Again, before you continue reading, remember: I am on your side. I am for you and everything you are made to be.
For so long Christian women have held out all they have and used it for service in God’s family. We have care and nurture within us, we have good memory, creative beauty and the ability to see potential in the dust. We have held out both our hands offering what we have for mutual encouragement and growth. But the same hasn’t been offered in return by our male counterparts.
There is a confidence crisis among young men. You have offered us one hand half-closed and held the other behind your back, hiding the precious gifts that God moulded into your frame. When you do let your preciousness show, you often only put it on quiet display to a few other men, denying women the opportunity of delighting in your beauty. Or you confine this treasure to the realm of romance so that those of us outside of your scope of interest do not get to benefit from it.
We were made male and female for so much more than romantic love. We can learn and build up each other outside of our emotions. Offer to us your thoughts and perspective. Approach us with genuine hearts of brotherhood in Christ.
Do not hide away in your rooms or turn your hobbies into your character. Let that affectionate priest, caretaker and watchman that you were created to be shine out. Find the courage once more to step out of your comfort zone and be open to learn.
Lift your eyes away from your phones and observe. Let go of the distractions and insecurities that have sought to impede your ability to function spiritually. Remember that you are royal priests.
When you see things slipping in the areas you are skilled at, step forward and shine – not for yourself but for the glory of God in you. Women have one glory and men have another glory. The church limps when one glory is missing.
Men, show us your glory.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
